If you are looking for the most relaxing, idyllic, peaceful getaway, then South Devon and most importantly Gara Rock is the place to go.
Me, my husband and the dog took a 4 night break down to the South Devon coast and honestly it was just what the Doctor ordered. You can get so caught up in everyday life with work stresses and in our case spending most free time decorating the house, that we forgot to take time out. We needed to go somewhere different, somewhere away from the routine and the structure we are used too.
There wasn't any phone signal to distract us from spending time with each other, relaxing and taking in the beauty of our surroundings, there WAS thankfully Wifi though.
We stayed in a extremely comfortable and well equipped apartment with ocean views, so we could sit out and just stare into the vastness and chill.
We took the dog on lots of hilly walks and down to the beach, bless him, think he was glad to be home so he could rest and sleep.
Where we stayed was a little remote, we needed to take a tiny 'ferry' across the water to get to the nearest town of Salcombe. It was well worth the trek though as it was a lovely day out and people there couldn't have been more friendly and they were so accommodating of the little dog. He was even sat proudly at the table in the local pub eating his biscuit they very kindly gave him.
We thoroughly enjoyed our break away from the hustle and would definitely recommend Gara Rock for a place to stay if you are interested in going to South Devon. We booked our holiday through Bluechip Holidays, the whole process was stress free and very reasonably priced.
I am already looking at the diary to see when we can return.
