The Baltic Social

The Baltic Social is on Parliament street in Liverpool city centre. When driving past the old mill style building, you could blink and miss the quirky, retro bar. It is with in a few minutes taxi drive from Liverpool Lime Street station and has a very cool relaxed vibe inside. I came here on a very dreary Saturday lunch time for my cousins Hen party, I walked into to the building not knowing what to expect, but was very pleasantly surprised.

Now, anyone who knows me knows I love a good strong cup of tea and if that is accompanied by lots of little sandwiches with the crusts cut off and beautiful dainty cakes, then all the better. This was to be an afternoon with a difference, however, and a blooming' brilliant one too.

No tea in sight, but plenty of lovely mis-matched china cups and saucers and pretty wild flowers in the centre of the tables. I was about to experience The Baltic Social's Punk Afternoon Tea.

We ate mini hot dogs, burgers, delicious Cajun and Coriander fries and for desert we had tasty chocolate brownies and colourful slices of sponge cake that reminded me of my childhood birthday parties. They had also scattered around the serving trays, yummy sweeties like drumstick lollies and flying saucers, which my mum thought was amazing. We washed all these delightful treats down with a cocktails of our choosing, which was brought to us in a tea pot. I thought I had joined the mad hatters tea party.

Next time you are in Liverpool and fancy somewhere a bit different for food or even just a nice, lovely afternoon drink, then I would definitely recommend trying this place.

Thanks for reading,
